To start the first server I had joined was Tichondrius. Trust me on this, you do not want to join that server; that server is known to be very popular and you will experience not only the possibility of a lot of griefing, but also a lot of disconnects from the server and server lag (character moves slow or not at all, inventory items move EXTREMELY slow). It is just a huge hassle being there, so I had the ability to do a “free transfer”, which you can find in your account settings on the World of Warcraft website. I transferred to a better server named Nazjatar. You may want to choose a server such as this because it has a medium to low size population; which will work to your advantage. You will find doing quests will become easier for not many people will be killing you.

Second tip I have is when you are out questing and you approach a mob (monsters that you kill) try to first run towards the back end of the mob, like up near a wall or cliff / hill face. This way if any of the opposing faction comes at you they will first have to work through all the mob to get to you, thus providing you at least some warning and time for you to either mount up on your horse (or whatever mount you have) and run or decide to stay and fight.

Third tip, if you have any buffs (special attributes) from food / potions and spells, try to keep them activated. Anything that will buy you some time to make a decision will help.

Stay focused on your goals with quests and if the opposing faction is staying by a grave site, (called camping) thus making your life very irritating, you can always just log off for a while. I’ve found if you just ignore them for awhile they get bored and soon leave to do other things.

Last but not least, you WILL die …. a lot. The sooner you accept that as a fact the easier the game becomes and just keep going, do not become upset or waste time trying to “seek revenge”. All that does is hinder your own progress.

You will be pleased when some day you are a higher level with good gear and able to defend yourself with a more successful outcome! Good luck playing WoW World of Warcraft and most of all, have fun.

To start with, Windows 7 did seem to boot faster.  I noticed the hard drive had not been accessed as much as I notice with my Vista based machine.  Surprisingly, other than that I have not found much advantage going to Windows 7.

Since I’ve been running Vista over the last couple years with Service Packs (SP2) installed I really have not run into much of any problems.  I also don’t like the fact that Windows 7 has removed many of the programs that I like,  or at least many features seem to be gone.  For example I like the localized photo gallery and the fact you can scan images from it easily included in Vista.  In Windows 7 I didn’t find that to be the case,  I’m still not sure where you can easily scan in documents.

I’ve learned Windows 7 has many of the programs going to the cloud-based windows “Live” versions.  That just is not my cup of tea,  – do I really want all my files mirrored on some server and having other companies / computers knowing every little detail of everything I do?   I seriously think more people should be asking themselves that before just blatantly subscribing to such “free” services.

In conclusion Windows 7 is great for boot up time.  Behind Linux being (and always being) my first choice; Windows Vista will be my Microsoft alternative for now.
